President of the self-governing region

President of the self governing region (Region) represents Region from outside. President is elected directly by the inhabitants of the Region according to Act 303/2001 on elections to organs of self governing regions. He / she is a statutory body of the Region when he /she decides about matters related to property law, labor law and about other selected matters. The President of the Region may suspend the carrying out of a resolution of the Assembly if he/she deems the resolution incorrect (not corresponding law or disadvantageous for the Region). In that case the President does not sign relevant resolution.

  • Active competitor in automobile races in Slovakia and the Czech-Slovak Federative Republic in 1986 – 1995 – joint-rider in Rallye races as well as director deputy of the international Rallye Matador Žilina.
  • Former active football and table-tennis player.

  • Member of the Slovak Committee of the ITA - International Tunnelling Association and the Slovak Committee of the FIB - International Federation for Structural Concrete.
